Synopsis: This drama is set in modern day where South Korea is governed by a constitutional monarchy. Lee Jae Ha is supposedly the 2nd Prince of South Korea. After being caught in a “special situation” with each other, army instructor Kim Hang Ah, the daughter of an influential family from North Korea, and Jae Ha are forced to marry each other through an arranged marriage. Once carefree and frank, Lee Jae Ha begins to take on the road of revenge as king after his older brother was killed in a bombing attack during his engagement. Slowly both Jae Ha and Hang Ah begin to fall in love with each other despite how much they clashed at first, but they find themselves at the mercy of the political factors which had brought them together in the first place but are now trying to pull them apart.

Written by the Hong Sisters (Hong Jin Ah and Hong Ja Ram). These are not the Hong Sisters who wrote My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, You’re Beautiful, The Greatest Love, etc. The Hong Sisters who wrote King2Hearts were the Hong Sisters who wrote Beethoven Virus. This drama is set to follow The Moon That Embraces The Sun.

Kim Hang Ah (Ha Ji Won)
An elite beautiful officer who comes from an influential family in North Korea. Because of her fiery hot temper she was unable to get married even though she’s already thirty. Hoping to catch the eye of the man that she has a crush on, she enters the WOC event – only to find her path crossed with South Korea’s playboy Crown Prince Lee Jae Ha and forced into an engagement with him. After the death of his brother she begins to sympathize with him and together with the Crown Prince she becomes determined to bring down the man responsible for creating fractions between the two sides of Korea.

Lee Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi)
The Crown Prince of South Korea, and a prince who covers up his smarts by pretending to be “stupid” despite his high IQ of 187. He leaves all the arrangements in his life up to his “straight A” perfect brother. He always states that the royal family is only for show in the modern times, and he himself led a comfortable life without much worries or having to think about too much – that is until he met Kim Hang Ah and Kim Bong Goo. When his brother dies at the hands of Kim Bong Goo he becomes a King who walks on the path of revenge.

Kim Bong Goo / John Mayer (Yoon Je Moon)
A South Korean who was adopted to live in America. He holds a bitter hate towards his country of birth and blames the royal family for his deprived childhood for being sent away. The President of Club M, he holds strong political and military power behind the scenes and he runs for the Presidential Post of South Korea but clashes with Lee Jae Ha and his brother.

Lee Jae Shin (Lee Yoon Ji)
This free-spirited tomboy Princess would rather be singing undercover in a nightclub than living a life of pretending to be a perfect Princess of the nation. She reveals her inborn stubbornness by marching on bravely after the death of her brother.

Eun Si Kyung (Cho Jung Seok)
He lives his life believing that he has to follow everything that his father has said or ordered throughout his life, that is, until his beliefs are shaken by the two people that he is supposed to protect, the Crown Prince and Princess. They brought changes in his life and he is left with more questions about his way of living when his world starts to crumble down even more when he thought the one person who would stick to his beliefs all of his life started to change as well.

It’s also been said that the song “2 Hearts” by Kylie Minogue is supposed to be a theme song for the drama:

  1. This drama is the best thing after ice-cream. High five to you for discovering Lee Seung Gi’s talent so early in the day. Although, a small voice in my head tells me what you discovered first was his looks… 😉

    • King2Hearts really is good!
He stole my heart in Shining Inheritance as the jerk he played :p hahaha. And ummm well I won’t lie about the fact that his looks won me over when I first saw him :p The fact that he looks so natural and charming without having the typical “pretty boy” impression (: Then I heard him singing and I was sold :p

  2. YOU KNOW I’M EXCITED FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love LSG and Ha Ji Won is a very talented actress. Their chemistry in the promotional vids and pics is amazing! Can’t wait to see them in action.
